Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Reports To: Vice President, Research and Development

Position Summary:
Design and develop electronics for medical devices at the system and printed circuit board level. Responsibilities include research, design and development, test and detailed documentation of complex electrical systems. The position will require original thinking and application of sound engineering principles to develop new products and technologies in an exciting multidisciplinary environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs
  • Generate electrical specifications from market requirements and architect product design to meet specifications
  • Perform mixed-signal circuit design, schematic capture and simulations. Work closely with PC board designer to ensure accurate implementation of design
  • Participate in product development and troubleshooting at a system level down to a component level
  • Proficiency in development of specifications based on high-level requirements
  • Follow policies and procedures to complete and accurately document engineering activities and comply with FDA design controls for medical device development
  • Participate in clinical studies of medical device for design validation, verification and product enhancement
  • Ability to support field issue debugging and assessment of system technical performance issues in real time on the telephone and through email technical support
  • Identify key innovations for intellectual property portfolio of company
  • Provide support in the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues
  • Perform Servicing activities as required
  • Maintain a professional, credible image with key physicians, consultants, vendors and co-workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • BSEE with 3+ years related experience or MSEE with 1+ years related experience
  • Experience in electronic systems, sensor design and integration, electronics troubleshooting, electronic testing design and project management
  • Familiarity with FPGA design using Verilog/VHDL programming languages, technical computing tools like MATLAB and real-time embedded control system design
  • Experience in medical device development and RF/microwave engineering is highly desired
  • Ability to think critically to develop methodical techniques for learning to understand and solve technical issues and document the rationale
  • Ability to develop techniques and tools to review vast amounts of data to establish trends to understand system performance
  • Excellent multidisciplinary problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
